Thigh High Tardis Socks

So this is what the thigh high sock pattern looks like when it's all together.

What I have learned in this process is not to use a stretch gripper lace around a curve (at least not with just a basic machine), it puckered and looks kinda bad. I will have to see if it works when kept straight and flat. Until then, regular stretch lace it will be!

Free Thigh High Sock Pattern

I love socks, and there's not much sexier that thigh high socks in a print that you love! But finding a pattern for ones that aren't crocheted can be difficult. For that reason I am making my sock pattern for jersey knits available to anyone who wants to use it.

This is just a basic free pattern, you will have to measure and scale the pattern to your size.

Happy sewing!

If you're posting photos of the socks you've made, please credit me. That is all I ask.

Velvet cloak sketch

After doing some poking around looking for various fabrics and materials to use, I decided to make a velvet cloak instead of a coat like the blue embroidered one.
Once I found the coordinating fabrics I sketched out a basic design. This will give me a rough estimate of how much of each material I will need.
Unfortunately, part of the order for this project got sent to the wrong city, gotta love the courier system in rural areas!
Sometimes shopping online for the best deals can be more hassle than it's worth, always remember to get a tracking number for large orders and don't be afraid to complain if your stuff goes walk-about. If they don't know there's a problem, they can't fix it for you.

Nightmare Before Christmas Fabrics

A small sampler of the Nightmare Before Christmas fabrics I now have for sale at: http://www.spoonflower.com/collections/43860

I can't wait to start making things with these prints!

Another of the Minecraft fabrics I designed for Spoonflower, this one was printed on a 100% cotton jersey knit.
The plan is to create a whole line of nerdy underthings which will be available on Etsy (makersway.etsy.com).
These ones were based off an old pair that I used as a pattern. I will try to post the pattern when I get a chance for anyone who wants to try making them. It's really easy and fun! :D

A good place to get the elastic trims, if you can't find them locally, is www.bramakerssupply.com.

Luxurious

Don't remember where I found this photo (I think the coat is in a museum), but ever since I saw it I have wanted to make something similar.
First step, and often the most challenging, is finding the right fabric and notions. After spending a few hours searching on Google and some of my favourite fabric haunts, I found a burgundy silk velvet and some beautiful silk/cotton blends (courtesy of www.fabric.com & Amazon).
Since I don't have an embroidery machine, I'll have to find another way to make a pattern on the velvet to give the garment even more oomph! The simplest way I can think of to achieve that is with a braided or fancy trim. Or by doing appliques, but that can be very tedious if there's a lot of them. For the moment though let's just start with the basics. Once the fabric arrives, it's time to draft a pattern!
